This Privacy Notice explains how Geek Psychology ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use Type Tails (the "Service"). We act as the data controller for personal data described here.
Data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, authentication provider (e.g. Google), and account timestamps.
- Game content: characters, crews, notes, generated portraits, and other content you save.
- Usage & technical data: IP address, device/browser information, pages viewed, and error logs, used for security and reliability.
- Support messages: anything you send us by email.
- Purchase data: order confirmations and entitlement records. Payment card details are collected by Stripe, not by us.
Why we use it & legal bases
- To provide the Service (contract): create your account, save your characters, run generators, deliver purchased unlocks.
- To keep it secure (legitimate interests): fraud prevention, abuse detection, rate limiting.
- To improve the Service (legitimate interests): aggregate usage and error diagnostics.
- To respond to you (legitimate interests / contract): customer support.
- To comply with law (legal obligation): tax, accounting, and lawful requests.
Who we share data with
- Stripe: our payment processor, for checkout, payments, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds.
- Hosting & infrastructure providers: Lovable, Supabase, and Cloudflare, which host the Service and store your data.
- AI providers: OpenAI and Google (via the Lovable AI gateway) for portrait, quest, and lore generation. Prompts and any content you attach are sent to these providers to produce a response.
- Professional advisers: legal, accounting, or similar advisers where necessary.
- Authorities where required by law.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
We keep account and game data while your account is active. Purchase records are kept for as long as needed for tax and accounting (typically up to 7 years). You can request deletion at any time; some records may be retained where the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email mathewgsherman@gmail.com. We aim to respond within one month.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege database policies, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure.
Cookies
We use only cookies and local storage that are essential to run the Service (sign-in session, saved character preferences). We do not use advertising cookies.
